Quadrant Advisory Board for Advancing Lifespans

Sounds innocuous, doesn’t it? What could be dangerous about a group of doctors and other professionals wanting to help people live longer?

In the Core Empire universe, it is very dangerous. And damaging.

Constantine “Jack” Jackson will be born in 2416. Palance Draper will be born in 2418. Jack became a spacer and helped colonize (not a dirty word in my universe) the planet of Green Gardens. Palance Draper went into medicine after watching his mother die of a cancer. He wanted to spare other people that pain.

So far so good. Then a woman entered the picture, Evie Braun born in North Dakota in 2422. She specialized in history and political structures. Her remate was Betty, a medical doctor. Betty adored Palance, but Evie fell in love with Jack. Unfortunately, Palance wanted Evie because she was prettier, smarter and had better political connections. HE didn’t take the rejection well.

Palance began doing research with Jules Queeg and Betty on implantation of tissue and organs to replace dying, damaged or dead organs and tissue. Evie went with Jack to Green Gardens and Palance, Jules and Betty went to a planet called GenLab for experimentation away from prying eyes.

Palance discovered he could implant a brain in a healthy body and so extend a person’s life. He shared his research with powerful leaders of the League of Humanity as well as corporate heads. They began choosing bodies and building an eternal elite.

Jack and Evie discovered this when they were invited to join and rejected the offer. Thus will begin the War of the League of Humanity which will end the League in 2477.

And lead to the founding of the Core Empire in 2487 on Beacon in the Prime Sector.
