Strange subject for a science fiction writer, but what is the point of life? Do you only worry about yourself or is there some grander purpose you would achieve? As an older person, I remember people being called ‘navel gazers’ for worrying only about themselves. Another way of describing the attitude is that you are the center of the universe. I found a freepik that illustrates this perfectly.
As you read Orphan’s Test and Lost Heir, consider whether Luke or Maeve can accomplish anything by only thinking of themselves. What about Priscilla Jenks or Sean Ward? Finally, how does this apply to your own life? What do you want others to remember about you? Do you think of others or only yourself?
